Hosanna Preaching Project—When They Call You a Radical: Preaching Palestine in 2025

The purpose of the Hosanna Project experience is to struggle with and to address the serious theological problems which arise when the traditions of a religious community and its way of reading the scriptures assert that its members are somehow chosen, set apart, called or covenanted to be in a unique and specially privileged relationship with God to the exclusion of all others. These assertions have profoundly affected the self understanding, the relationships to those outside the religious community, and the attitudes and values of many within the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions across the centuries. This year we will focus on flipping the narrative surrounding Palestine. The workshop will prepare attendees to construct more authentic stories of the realities on the ground and speak to their local communities with honesty and urgency. Participants will come away with better media literacy and research skills, a wider grasp on doing good exegesis on the topic of Palestine, and the tools necessary to develop, write, and preach a sermon (or other project format) in their communities. All participants will be eligible to send in their project after the workshop for a chance at winning the 2025 Hosanna Preaching Project cash prize.

SPEAK UP for Palestine! PJN’s 2025 Annual Meeting

About the Annual Meeting

Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Proverbs 31:8-9, NIV

The PJN annual meeting planning committee is excited to share that our 2025 annual meeting theme will be: SPEAK UP for Palestine!

During this annual meeting, we hope to offer programming that will inspire us to continue to Speak Up for Palestine. We will feature talks and workshops led by local Palestinian student activists, world-renowned Palestinian artists, and writers and thought-leaders who have put everything on the line to Speak Up for Palestine. We will also spend our time together reflecting on ways in which we have failed to speak up and moments in which we have been complicit through silence. We pray that our time together will rejuvenate and reinvigorate us to keep on Speaking Up for Palestine until Palestine is truly free.

The annual meeting programming will be offered on November 14 and 15. PJN will also host a welcome reception on the evening of Thursday, November 13, for folks who arrive early.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Hannah Moushabeck, author, editor, and book marketer from Interlink Publishing, the only Palestinian-owned publisher in the United States

  • Sim Kern, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of Genocide Bad and The Free People’s Village.

  • Tanya Habjouqa, award-winning visual journalist, artist, and educator.

Traveling to Madison

There are 2 ways you can fly to Madison.

  1. You can fly into the local airport - Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) - and then take an uber to your hotel.

  2. Or, you can fly into Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and take a bus ($68.60 USD round trip) directly to downtown Madison and then take walk or uber to your hotel.

While it tends to be cheaper to fly into ORD and take a bus to Madison, it is worth checking both options because sometimes the cost to fly into Madison can be comparable.
