Fifty years on: A call for liberty and justice for all

On June 5, 2017 the illegal Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza turned 50.  This is not an occasion for celebration but a mark of shame on all who have enabled this half-century of subjugation and oppression.

The Israel/Palestine Mission Network of the Presbyterian Church (USA) is committed to shining al light on this ever-worsening situation which currently by default, is one state, with apartheid laws separating two peoples.

Hunger Strike Solidarity

Aarab Marwan Barghouti, son of jailed Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti, has asked people of conscience to drink a glass of salt water to show their solidarity for his father and the 1500+ Palestinians currently on hunger strike in Israeli prisons. This call for solidarity has led to various groups across the world showing their solidarity for the striking prisoners by joining in and posting videos of themselves drinking the salt water at #SaltWaterChallenge.

Drop the Charges and End the Tarnishing Campaign

April 3, 2017 — The Israel Palestine Mission Network of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) stands in full support of Dr. Omar Barghouti, Co-Founder of the global BDS movement for justice in Palestine, as he faces unjust persecution by Israeli authorities, in an attempt to silence him. He has been placed under a gag order and travel ban and will not be able to travel to Yale University this month to receive the Gandhi Peace Prize (along with Ralph Nader) unless the ban is lifted.

15 Christian churches and organizations call for peace, justice, and equality in Israel and Palestine: Toward Peace, Justice, and Equality in Israel and Palestine

February 15, 2017 — As U.S.-based Christian churches, agencies, and organizations, we urge Congress and the Administration to take actions which will enhance the prospects for peace, justice, and equality in Israel and Palestine, and refrain from actions that would harm those prospects.

2017 marks 50 years since Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza and 24 years since the signing of the Oslo Accords. Over the last 50 years, but particularly since the signing of the Oslo accords in 1993, there have been significant changes on the ground in the occupied Palestinian territories that have a negative impact on efforts to achieve peace with justice. Violations of human rights and international law have continued without consequence and are enabled further by Israeli legislative actions.
